Violeta Liuba Călin, PhD

Dr. Violeta Calin is a physicist and project coordinator with expertise in biophysics and digital holographic microscopy. She has led pioneering work on holographic biomarkers (such as refractive index, dry mass density, and bimodality coefficient) to evaluate the metastatic potential of living cells. Together with her team, she developed and validated protocols for preparing unstained histologic slides suitable for DHM across multiple tissue types, including breast, cerebral tumors, and colonic adenomas. Her research has demonstrated the use of holographic imaging in tumor grading, notably identifying biomarkers for glioma classification. She is also co-inventor of a granted patent (OSIM 134410) on procedures for classifying unstained biopsies using holographic biomarkers.

Prof. Mihaela Georgeta Moisescu, PhD

Prof. Dr. Mihaela Georgeta Moisescu is a medical doctor and professor of biophysics at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, where she also coordinates the Master’s program in Biophysics and Cellular Biotechnology. Her research focuses on the interaction of electric fields with living cells, electroporation, dielectrophoresis, and nanomaterials for biomedical applications. She has authored over 45 ISI-indexed publications, coordinated numerous national and international research grants, and is co-inventor of a patent on classifying tissue malignancy using digital holographic microscopy.

Ioan Cristian Tivig, PhD

Curious about the intersection of technology and biology, Dr. Ioan Tivig has worked across biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, and bio-microfabrication. His main research focuses on electric field applications, such as dielectrophoresis and electroporation, as well as optical trapping with optical tweezers. He also brings strong skills in programming (Python, C++), 3D printing (FDM and resin), and modeling/simulations of electric fields.
